Elena Melich, from Madrid, in fourteenth position, stands out as the best Spanish player in the competition held at the Gambito Golf Calatayud course.<\/span><\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\">Sweden&#8217;s Andrea Lignell, a promising young golfer, has won her second title of the season by winning an exciting and spectacular Iberdrola Calatayud Ladies Open, ending the dominance of English golfers, who had won the first three editions of this tournament, part of the LET Access women&#8217;s professional circuit.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\">Andrea Lignell has maintained an upward trajectory to achieve victory. Sixth after the first day, third after the second and the undisputed winner after the third and final round, the Nordic player rounds off a good season after also winning the Swedish Strokeplay held in early July. As if that weren&#8217;t enough, the victory in Calatayud comes with a bonus, as the Swede has finally finished in the top seven of the LETAS Ranking, which awards the LET card in 2026.  <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\">On this occasion, her outstanding consistency led her to victory, taking advantage of her main rivals&#8217; collapse during the final round. His scores of 69, 67 and 69 for a total of 11 under par proved an insurmountable barrier for the other contenders for victory, including the most inspired of them all, Germany&#8217;s Hanna Tauber, who was always in the lead throughout the 54 holes of play. <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\">Before clinching the title and lifting the championship trophy, Andrea Lignell struggled somewhat until the sixth hole, where a birdie partially offset two bogeys by the Swedish player. However, from that moment on, everything changed. Her doubts turned into confidence, and Andrea Lignell racked up four birdies without a single mistake, paving her way to victory. <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\">This was helped by the fact that Hanna Tauber, although admirable, lacked momentum on the final round, which she completed with 73 strokes, while France&#8217;s Lucie Malchirand, who had a brilliant second day (64 strokes) that put her in the lead, literally collapsed on the last 18 holes, finishing with 79 strokes, 15 more than the previous day.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\">Nor did England&#8217;s Gemma Clews, number 1 in the LETAS Ranking, trouble Sweden&#8217;s Andrea Lignell, who finished four strokes behind, although her third place served to further secure her top spot in the LETAS Ranking which, like the next six players, allows her to earn her Ladies European Tour card in 2026.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\">Among the Spanish players, Elena Melich from Madrid ultimately stood out as the most outstanding. With scores of 71, 67 and 75 for a total of 213 strokes, 8 behind the winner, Elena Melich finished in fourteenth place. Mar\u00eda Parra, twenty-fourth with 215 strokes; Clara Moyano and Mar\u00eda Herr\u00e1ez, thirtieth with 217; Beatriz Barrios and Mar\u00eda Villanueva, forty-third with 220, completed the Spanish performance among those who made the cut after the second round.  <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\"> <\/span><b><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\">Andrea Lignell&#8217;s solid track record<\/span><\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\">The winner of the Iberdrola Calatayud Ladies Open 2025, who has thereby earned her LET card for 2026, grew up on the west coast of Sweden, on the outskirts of Gothenburg, by the sea. She started playing golf at a very young age and was selected at the age of 17 to join the Swedish national team in various international tournaments. Bronze medallist at the 2018 European Team Championships and silver medallist at the 2021 edition, Andrea Lignell turned professional in the summer of 2024. Her sporting achievements include victories this season in the Swedish Strokeplay and in this spectacular fourth edition of the Iberdrola Calatayud Ladies Open, a tournament that has perfectly combined support for high-level professional women&#8217;s golf with the promotion of the tourist, cultural and gastronomic excellence of Calatayud and its region.   <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\"> <\/span><b><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\">An experience for all audiences<\/span><\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\">Aside from the tournament, the Gambito Experience was the grand finale, once again emphasising conviviality and gastronomy, with activities open to members, visitors and guests, consolidating the event as a social occasion beyond the sporting arena.<\/span><\/p><p><b><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\"> <\/span><\/b><b><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\">Essential support for the development of the tournament<\/span><\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\">The Iberdrola Calatayud Ladies Open has established itself as a key event on the LET Access Series calendar, not only because of the high standard of its organisation, but also because of the quality of the course and the hospitality of the city of Calatayud.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\">The tournament was sponsored mainly by Iberdrola, with the collaboration of the Government of Aragon, Calatayud City Council, the Aragon Golf Federation, Gambito Golf Club Calatayud and Galera Group, the event promoter.
