The Iberdrola Calatayud Ladies Open, a professional women’s tournament that forms part of the LET Access Series circuit, brings together the best players on this circuit at the Gambito Golf Calatayud course in Calatayud. It has taken on a distinctly German flavour, broken only by the exciting emergence of Spain’s Clara Moyano, who is hot on the heels of the leader in second place after the first 18 holes of competition.<\/p>

<\/span><\/p>

Three of the top four finishers have German as their mother tongue\u2014Hanna Tauber and Hanna Karg from Germany, along with Johanna Ebner from Austria\u2014while the fourth, Patricie Mackova from the Czech Republic, has knowledge of the language. Adding to this linguistic monopoly is the presence of Clara Moyano, author of a promising start. <\/span><\/p>

All of them dominated with an iron fist on a spectacular first day, where success was the common theme for a large group of players, who quickly demonstrated the quality of their game on the pitch.<\/span><\/p>

The best of them all was Germany’s Hanna Tauber, with 67 strokes, a golfer who has yet to win on the LETAS and is eager to maintain her high scoring pace to win what would be her first title as a professional.<\/span><\/p>

The German finished at the clubhouse with an outstanding score of 5 under par, highlighted by two almost consecutive eagles on holes 10 and 12, followed by an impressive streak of two more birdies on holes 13 and 14 that cemented her lead.<\/span><\/p>

None of her rivals were able to match her accuracy, although four of them, her compatriot Hanna Karg, Austria’s Johanna Ebner, the Czech Republic’s Patricie Mackova and Spain’s Clara Moyano, with rounds of 68 strokes each, were just one stroke behind, highlighting the predictable equality and ability to generate excitement in a tournament where many are playing for not only for victory, but also for a place in the top seven of the LETAS Ranking, which gives direct access to the Ladies European Tour in 2026.<\/span><\/p>

Of all of them, special mention goes to Patricie Mackova, who won the Lavaux Ladies Open in mid-September, her first victory as a professional. The Czech player also ranks fourth in the LETAS rankings, a clear endorsement of the strength of her game. <\/span><\/p>

Among the Spanish players in the tournament, the most inspired was Clara Moyano, with a remarkable round of 68 strokes where she made no mistakes. Four birdies scattered opportunely throughout her round place her among the top players in the overall standings. <\/span><\/p>

Close behind, with 69 strokes, tied for sixth place, are Marina Escobar from Almer\u00eda and Mar\u00eda Herr\u00e1ez from Madrid. The Andalusian, another of the many players who dreams of opening her professional victory account, could have replicated the sensational start of leader Hanna Tauber had it not been for an untimely double bogey on the 18th hole, an excessive punishment for a sensational round, with a spectacular start that included four birdies in the first five holes. <\/span><\/p>

Mar\u00eda Herr\u00e1ez, meanwhile, reached the same destination but by a slightly different route, in her case with some good shots, especially a spectacular eagle on the 12th hole that made up for the only mistake on her round, an untimely double bogey on the 5th, which does not prevent her from being considered a candidate for the final victory in this Iberdrola Calatayud Ladies Open, which has started speaking German.<\/span><\/p>
